George Hodgson caught up with the club captain and joint caretaker manager after yesterday's crucial win.

“The pitch suited our style of play and the lads took what me and Joey [Collins] said to them on board about how to come away with the win.

Club captain and joint caretaker manager Matt Lawlor was delighted to guide Bamber Bridge to victory on Saturday.

It was a long awaited three points for Brig who stepped up to the mark on the road, winning 2-0 at Hyde United.

With three massive games to go, it’s sure to be a tight and tense run-in and Lawlor knows he and the lads must use Saturday’s result to kick-on and fight for survival.

“We had to win that game,” he said. “The pitch suited our style of play and the lads took what me and Joey [Collins] said to them on board about how to come away with the win.

“Every player deserves credit for Saturday’s performance but we need to carry it on because it’s not enough to just do it for one game, we need repeat performances.

“Confidence levels should be high but we have to back it up, not just on Saturday but Monday and the following Saturday.

“We have had two wins now with friendly and the Hyde win and every member of the squad has had minutes across the two games so everyone should be chomping at the bit if selected.

Next up for Brig is a home clash against Matlock Town, a game the boys will be working hard in preparation of this week.

Lawlor said: “Matlock are a very good team and established club at this level and above

“An experienced manager and team have seen them have a decent season but our second half performance against them earlier in the season gives us an understanding of what we need to do to affect the game.

“We will work Tuesday and Thursday on a game plan to try and execute, with the aim of another three points.”
